A highlight for Luigi
‘Thomas Albertus Irnberger (...) can rely on
congenial partners in all three concerts.
The Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo, under the accomplished direction of Franz Schottky, provides an orchestral sound that is as compact as it is transparent.’

Klassikwelt Radio Bremen
‘On his new Haydn album, Irnberger plays together with the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo under the direction of Franz Schottky. He founded this fine and flexible ensemble in 2000. In Haydn, the orchestra's great experience and stylistic range can be felt. The Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo has experience in early music and its historically informed performance practice. On the other hand, the ensemble also plays classical, late romantic and modern music – so it is truly diverse and competent in all directions. This is ideal for Haydn's violin concertos, because stylistically they move between baroque and early classical.'

Joseph Haydn: Violin Concertos & Concerto for Harpsichord, Violin and String Orchestra
‘The excellent, very homogeneous Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo interacts very well with the two soloists.’
Remy Franck in Pizzicato, 17 November 2023
A virtuoso performance – the Munich Chamber Philharmonic dacapo thrilled its audience with an extraordinary concert
‘The long, seemingly never-ending applause motivated the ensemble to give encores (...). The audience left the town hall that evening fulfilled and elated.’

Full of elegance and energy
"A truly festive event as part of the music summer between Inn and Salzach, masterfully conducted by Franz Schottky, the orchestra's founder and artistic director (...) After the break, the orchestra performed Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 3 in E flat major op. 97 Rhenish with verve and great appeal (...) In short, it was a wonderful concert (...).
Wolfgang Schweiger in the Passauer Neue Presse, 16 May 2023
A small ensemble that played big
"The middle of the concert offered the highlight of the evening. The Italian pianist Roberto Pegoraro seduced the audience with his virtuoso performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's piano concerto Emperor. The orchestra accompanied him perfectly. A real treat for the ears, which showed that it doesn't always have to be a large orchestra to accompany such an impressive piano concerto.’
Maria Schmid in the Bad Wörishofer Rundschau, 22 December 2022
Trial run at Lake Starnberg
"But the orchestra went on tour well prepared, secure in their interpretative formation. (...) The musicians allowed Reinecke the finest musical humour, both in the lively Scherzo and in the light Fughetta giojosa. The latter featured a light-hearted solo performance by the captivatingly narrative concertmaster Marius Bigelmaier. The finale was also witty, with the collective rubato standing out as a special quality of the interpretation."
Reinhard Palmer in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, 02 February 2020
Young like Papa Haydn
'Under the direction of Franz Schottky, not only the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo - all groups equally - performed at the top of their game (...). What could be heard and experienced in terms of the most compelling melody, the most intricate rhythm, the most sophisticated orchestration, the most profound symphonic music, was a revelation. Well-deserved and long-lasting applause, which Franz Schottky gladly passed on to his musicians. My neighbour said afterwards: ‘The other big Munich orchestras will have to work hard to achieve something like that!’ And he's right...'
Ulrich Hermann in The New Listener, 26 Oktober 2019
Mozart Matinée on 25 March in the Herkulessaal
'From the opening Molto allegro to the Andante and Menuetto Allegretto and the fourth movement, the Allegro assai, the symphony could be experienced here once again in all its uniqueness and grandeur. There was enthusiastic applause in the Herkulessaal - thanks for this musical moment of glory!'
Ulrich Hermann in The New Listener, 27 March 2018
Classics on the playmat
'So much for elegant evening wear, champagne receptions and absolute silence: rompers, playmats and bottles dominated the Bürgersaal at Forstner in Oberhaching when star conductor Franz Schottky and five dacapo soloists began to play. They had invited the little ones to a classical music concert. Colourful cheerfulness prevailed during the event.‘
Kathrin Kohnke in the Münchner Merkur, 23/24 January 2016
Vivaldi meets Piazzolla
‘Senta Berger and the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo gave a guest performance at the Plassenburg Castle at the end of the concert series. The juxtaposition of the composers‘ 'Four Seasons' was a challenge that the musicians mastered with confidence. (...) The musicians performed it with great transparency and audible enthusiasm for making music that evening.’
Stephan Herbert Fuchs in the Bayerische Rundschau, 21 July 2015
Celibidache would have liked it
'In 2000, a young man gathered a group of enthusiastic musicians around him and founded the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo on the Kyberg with unparalleled courage and enthusiasm (...). But an idealistic artist – who, incidentally, was a student of the legendary conductor of the Munich Philharmonic, Sergiu Celibidache – and his fellow players often achieve the seemingly impossible. They built up a reputation through guest performances at home and abroad, and particularly in Munich. So it is not surprising that an even larger audience than the dacapo listeners from the founding period gathered in the packed Herkulessaal. In foyer chatter, listeners confirm how much they appreciate these concerts and also welcome them as one of the highlights in the indisputable music capital of Munich.'

Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo with Gutman in the Herkulessaal
The Münchner Kammerphilharmonie dacapo gave an impressive performance at the ‘100 Years of Celibidache’ concert in the Herkulessaal. Conductor Franz Schottky once studied with the great General Music Director, and some of his later gestural calm can certainly be seen in Schottky. The cellist Natalia Gutman is the centre of the evening. The Rostropovich student was one of Celibidache's favourite soloists; her appearance at this gala concert is thus a special gesture. Gutman plays Schumann's A minor Cello Concerto op. 129, quietly absorbed in the music, subtly supported by the orchestra. This Schumann interpretation is wonderful.'
Andreas Pernpeintner in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, 12 July 2012
A touching duet for oboe and orchestra
'The maestro entices a warm and powerful sound from his orchestra. The Adagio becomes a romanticised pastoral idyll, a baroque Arcadia. (...) The duet for oboe and orchestra has a touching intensity. Schottky, a clever orchestral trainer, has trained the dacapo to react at lightning speed. Then Leoš Janáček's Suite for Strings: subtle sounds, skilfully staged by Schottky, which penetrate directly into the listener's soul.
